Laser Cutter

In the same class as the 3D printing, I worked with laser cutting to create a light purse. In the dark, the cutout image creates a shadow. Below is the design process of a class project to create a donor wall for the Palouse Discovery Science Center. In a small team of three, we developed an idea with gears at the top with the donor names and magnetic gears at the bottom where kids could play and move them around. In the end, as a class, we decided on gears, each one having to do with science. I chose to do two gears about the solar system and night and day. The gear was made out of wood and laser etched with the names and design. I created the design in Adobe Illustrator. My laser cutting journey began with experimenting in apparel design. In my sustainable design, I laser-etched the design in 100% cotton denim fabric.
